Academic Support

Students are nominated to participate in Sponsor-A-Scholar by teachers and guidance counselors at their public high schools. They are chosen based on financial need, academic potential, school attendance, the desire to attend college and family support.

To help ensure the success of our students we provide considerable academic support. Each group of scholars meets weekly during the school year in homework sessions facilitated by Sponsor-A-Scholar staff. Each student's grades are reviewed and tutoring is provided as needed. We also help scholars improve their study skills, prepare for college entrance exams, and enroll them in academic and vocational programs during the summer months.
